World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens
World Super Bantamweight champion
Phannarai Netisri will make the
fifth defense of her title against
Venezuelan Niorkis Carreno on
October 3 in Hamburg, Germany.
Still only twenty-four years old,
Netisri, 17-0 (6), originally from
Thailand but based in Germany
throughout her entire career, won
the WBF world title in May of 2022,
stopping Crystal Garcia Nova in five
rounds.
She has since fended off challenges
from Ana Arrazola, Danielle Bennett,
Maria Magdalena Rivera and Isis
Vargas Perez, all quality
contenders.
In “La Bachaca” Carreno, 25-5 (20),
she will be facing a hard-punching
and experienced challenger, who has
seen it all and is hungry to finally
become a world champion.
Carreno has five failed world
title-challenges on her resume, all
decision losses, and most recently
came very close when she lost a
majority verdict to IBO world
Bantamweight champion Amanda Galle
in Canada last December.
This could be the toughest and most
dangerous fight for the champion to
date, and Carreno (27) knows she has
to be on top of her game to make her
sixth world title-opportunity a
success.
