                                                Filipino Super Flyweights Daryl 
                                                Basadre and Julius Alcos will 
                                                clash for the vacant World 
                                                Boxing Federation (WBF) 
                                                International title on Thursday 
                                                March 20 in General Santos City, 
                                                when JM Promotions in 
                                                association with Sanman 
                                                Promotions welcomes fans to 
                                                another evening of top-class 
                                                boxing. 
 
                                                
                                                21-year-old “Flash” Basadre 
                                                (10-1-1, 7 KOs) is the local 
                                                man, and despite being much less 
                                                experienced than Cebu City 
                                                veteran Alcos (22-13, 4 KOs), 
                                                eight years older at 29, he must 
                                                be considered the favorite in an 
                                                otherwise evenly matched affair.
                                                
 
                                                
                                                Last September Basadre suffered 
                                                his careers first defeat when he 
                                                came up short against former 
                                                world champion Suriyan Sor 
                                                Rungvisai in Thailand, but he 
                                                has since rebounded in style 
                                                with a devastating first round 
                                                knockout in January over the 
                                                usually durable Nelson Llanos.
                                                
 
                                                
                                                A former Asian champion, Julius 
                                                Alcos has fought for numerous 
                                                titles and shared a ring with 
                                                many world-class opponents since 
                                                turning professional in 2002. 
                                                Almost all of his thirteen 
                                                defeats have come in competitive 
                                                fights against top-class 
                                                operators, and only future world 
                                                champion Sonny Boy Jaro managed 
                                                to stop him inside the distance.
                                                
 
                                                
                                                Like Basadre, Alcos is also 
                                                coming off an impressive 
                                                knockout victory, in December he 
                                                leveled featherweight Rowel 
                                                Garcia in six rounds, so it will 
                                                be two confident boxers squaring 
                                                off for the WBF belt at the 
                                                Lagao Gym. 
 
                                                
                                                General admission will be free 
                                                to the public for the show, 
                                                which has been labeled Southside 
                                                Beatdown and is presented in 
                                                cooperation with Mayor Ronnel 
                                                Rivera and councilor Brix Tan.
