                                                Ivan “El Russo” Pereyra is the 
                                                new World Boxing Federation (WBF) 
                                                Intercontinental Super 
                                                Welterweight Champion after 
                                                defeating fellow Mexican 
                                                Christopher Degollado on 
                                                Thursday night (December 5) at 
                                                the Gimnasio Nuevo León in 
                                                Monterrey, Mexico. 
 
                                                
                                                Fighting in his undefeated 
                                                opponent’s hometown, 24-year-old 
                                                Pereyra showed the heart of a 
                                                champion and put on a very good 
                                                performance over twelve rounds 
                                                to win a unanimous decision. 
 
                                                
                                                The three judges at ringside 
                                                scored the bout 116-112, 117-111 
                                                and 119-109 in favor of Pereyra, 
                                                who was embraced by the crowd in 
                                                the packed arena, despite 
                                                defeating the hometown hero.  
 
                                                
                                                The new WBF Champion improved 
                                                his professional record to 19-2 
                                                (13), while Degollado, 
                                                challenging for his first title, 
                                                loses for the first time in the 
                                                paid ranks and drops to 10-1 
                                                (8). 
 
                                                
                                                Promoted by Eduardo Ganem, the 
                                                show featured an interesting and 
                                                entertaining undercard of local 
                                                talent, and was broadcasted live 
                                                by AYM Sports. |
