Reigning World Boxing Federation
(WBF) All Africa Light Heavyweight
champion Bonginkosi Nhlapo will make
the first defense of his title on
September 19 in Gauteng, South
Africa.
Nhlapo, 4-3-1 (1), will face
experienced South Africa-based
Congolese Jimmy “The Beast”
Mabundjii, 10-10 (8), a former WBF
All Africa titlist at Super
Middleweight.
Nhlapo only won the title last June,
when he edged Nelson Mbhele by
Majority Decision, so it will be a
quick turn-around for the
26-year-old.
Mabundjii challenged for the same
title in March of 2024, coming up
short against Jason Medi, so he is
eager to get another crack and
redeem himself.
This is a bound to be an exciting
fight between the technically gifted
champion and relentless,
hard-punching challenger.
